Free movement of citizen within Europe

The free movement of people within the European Union has always been one of the main aims of the EU since its creation. This right originally envisaged for working people in order to achieve the internal market has been extended to all categories of citizens: dependants, students, retired people and  tourists. This free movement has been fostered  by the implementation of some measures. Some administrative formalities citizens had to complete prior to their departure have been reduced, the health assistance simplified and the security strengthened.
