European Consumer Day
Rome, Institute for Tourism
“Crisoforo Colombo”
Via Panisperna n. 255 - H 11.00 AM
The European Consumer Day is an
important event: it underlines the central role of citizens in the European
Union and its strategic function I the Internal Market. The European Consumer
Centre has the joint function of assisting citizens in cross-border consumption
and awareness raising/education to responsible consumption and European
citizenship.
The European Consumer Day is the occasion to present the various brochures and
electronic information materials prepared for students and teachers by ECC Italy
and the Europa Diary published by the EU Commission. Finally, EU programmes
devoted to students and young people will be illustrated.
A short Power Point Presentation will be projected, as an introduction to
participants. The ECC web site and the electronic animated videos will be shown.
Students will be given gadgets, the EU Diary, some guides and brochures.
Hopefully a chat line session on EU citizenship and cross-border consumption
will be hosted in connection with a school in another EU country.
The event will be followed by a meeting with teachers, to solicitate their
interest in the matter and to show the didactic support by ECC Italy.
The initiative is run with the support of the EU Commission and of the Italian
Ministry of Economic development. The consumer associations Adiconsum and CTCU,
host organizations of ECC Italy, will be attending the event, as well as the
Unione Nazionale Consumatori. |
